Project:   BIG BRONCO

The guy I got it from had already begun to restore it, overall it was in decent shape.

Here is the info (as of purchase date):

1978 Ford Bronco Custom

351M (5.8L) Rebuilt stock (except .040 over-bore)

4x4 part-time (np205 transfer case)

C6 auto tranny (rebuilt)

Dual exhaust, glasspacks

Super Swamper TSL's 33x12.50x15

Fresh coat of silver-metallic paint

new 35 gallon gas tank

Now for what I have done to it:

Click here to go to my modifications page (detailing everything from motor to suspension). I describe exactly what I did and what differecne it made, each step of the way.

Click here to go to my custom stereo install detailing my system that uses brand new sony Xplod 6x9's, Xplod 6.5", a couple amps, JL 18" subwoofer etc.

When I first got it.

7/2001

sidebyside1.JPG (121349 bytes) A comparison of the Bronc and my F150
superswamper.jpg (77352 bytes) A zoom in of the Super Swamper TSL's, my very first mud tires.
1_02_angle.jpg (62305 bytes) 1_02_side.JPG (79076 bytes) 2" of lift installed. Not much, but stops some of the tire - rubbing problems I had. 1/2002
lights1.jpg (49538 bytes) I installed sealed beam conversion headlights, along with purple tinted h4's. The difference is amazing. Even with the tint, the lights are much brighter and the new reflector casts so much better light pattern than the stock lights did.
frontaxle2.JPG (16648 bytes) chasis1.JPG (18984 bytes) Ok, so I had too much time on my hands and created a 3D model of the front suspension, and then the whole suspension along with some of the drivetrain. 6/2005
rear1.JPG (42275 bytes) Here is the back end. The tailgate had a sheet metal patch job and the rear glass was a cap window with plywood around it.
d_tailgate8.JPG (55975 bytes) Here is the tailgate after I put diamond tread over it. Removed the rear window all together, going to get a tanneau cover for the truck hopefully.
d_tailgate3.JPG (40865 bytes) Here is a construction shot of the diamond tread tailgate. Dont try this at home! I used ratchet straps to bend the sheetmetal and boards to disperse the force across the length.
73grille.JPG (34350 bytes) I want to convert the front end to resemble that of a '73, here is the grille I have for the project.
Bumper Design1a.JPG (46920 bytes) This is a design I scetched for a custom made drop bumper with tubular guard built-in. This will probably go on my 79 f-250 as my bronco is gonna get the '73 grille and I like the look of twin tube bumpers on it.
