I don't have a lot of stuff yet... just a few minutes worth of experimentation.

Experiment, Summer '98
Capacitors: 1 energy discharge cap, 120uF 10kV
Wire: 6" long section of #24 AWG bare copper wire

I found that it took at least 5kV charge on the caps to get the wire to actually explode into a large cloud of smoke.

Here is pic of a board in which we placed the wire in a sort of half circle on the board.
